FCP Coastal Falls to Montverde Academy Gold 51-59 — Game Recap

Florida Coastal Prep’s Coastal team closed out a challenging February road stretch with a 51-59 defeat at Montverde Academy Gold on Monday, falling by eight points against one of the most decorated programs in national prep basketball.

Montverde Academy is a benchmark opponent. Their Gold squad operates under the same infrastructure that has produced dozens of NBA and high-major college players, and bringing a competitive SIAA program into their building and keeping the margin to eight points requires a performance well above average. FCP’s Coastal team held Montverde’s offense to 59 — a number that reflects real defensive effort against a program with far deeper resources. The Spartans’ 51 points were not enough to win, but the game was within reach through three quarters and the outcome was not decided until the final four minutes. Montverde’s ability to execute in high-pressure possessions, a product of years of elite program building, proved to be the decisive factor.

The Coastal team now closes the 2025-26 regular season having faced a schedule that included DME Gold, BCAT Black, Specially Fit Academy, and Montverde Academy Gold — a collection of opponents that represents some of the highest-level competition available to prep programs in Florida and the Southeast. An eight-point loss to Montverde in February is the kind of result that shows up positively on a player’s recruiting film, even in a loss column.
