FCP Sunshine Holds Off BCAT Orange 80-76 in Home Thriller — Game Recap

Florida Coastal Prep’s Sunshine team made it two wins in a row Saturday, holding off BCAT Orange 80-76 in a competitive home contest that required every quarter of focused effort to secure.

The game lived in the margins throughout. BCAT Orange came into Fort Walton Beach with enough offensive capability to push the Spartans consistently, and the lead changed hands in stretches before FCP began to impose its will in the second half. The Sunshine squad’s ability to score in the 80s spoke to the offensive floor spacing and transition opportunities the team created, but the four-point final margin was a reminder that nothing in SIAA competition comes easily. FCP’s composure down the stretch — managing possessions, converting free throws, and staying disciplined defensively when BCAT made its runs — proved to be the differentiating factor in the final five minutes.

Two wins through two home games is a strong start for the Sunshine team, and the close nature of this particular result has genuine value: close games in November prepare teams for close games in February. The squad is developing the kind of competitive identity that coaches and recruiting staffers notice.
