Individual Workouts

Position-Specific. Coach-Driven. Results-Focused.

Every Player. A Personalized Plan.

Team practice makes you a better teammate. Individual workouts make you a better player. At FCP, skill development is position-specific and built around each athlete's weaknesses, habits, and recruiting goals — not a generic program every player runs through. Our coaches have over 100 years of combined basketball experience, including NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson. There is no substitute for that level of coaching expertise.

What Individual Development Looks Like at FCP

Position-Specific Coaching

Each athlete is assigned to a position coach who tracks their development, addresses their weaknesses, and builds sessions around what the player shows in practice and games. The coaching is intentional — not a generic drill rotation every player runs through the same way.

  • Ball handling and dribble combinations
  • Footwork — pivots, jab steps, triple-threat positioning
  • Finishing packages (euro step, floater, reverse layup)
  • On-ball and off-ball movement reads
  • Decision-making in pick-and-roll, isolation, and transition

Shooting Machine Program

The Spartan Training Center has two shooting guns — machine-fed ball return systems that allow for high-volume, high-speed shooting repetition. Athletes run structured shooting programs, not aimless catch-and-shoot sets.

  • High-volume shooting repetitions in every session
  • Spot work, movement shooting, and contested releases
  • Shooting under fatigue (post-conditioning sets)
  • Game-speed footwork out of cuts and screens
  • 24/7 gun access for additional reps outside structured sessions

Film-Driven Feedback

Games and key training sessions are filmed. In individual sessions, coaches pull clips of each player's tendencies — showing them exactly what scouts and college coaches will see. This feedback loop accelerates development faster than any drill alone. Learn more about our film process →

  • Identifies habitual bad decisions before they become instinct
  • Builds self-awareness college coaches expect at the next level
  • Creates accountability — players see themselves objectively
  • Gives coaches the footage context needed to advocate for each player

Speed, Agility & Athleticism

Skill development extends beyond the hardwood. The Spartan Training Center's turf zone and Fort Walton Beach are used for dedicated athletic development sessions — improving the physical tools that allow skills to show up in games.

  • First-step acceleration and closeout speed
  • Lateral shuffle and defensive footwork patterns
  • Vertical jump development through conjugate training →
  • Sand conditioning for endurance and mental toughness

Recruiting Profile Development

Individual workouts aren't just about getting better — they're about documenting improvement for college coaches. Our staff builds individual recruiting plans that connect skill development directly to exposure opportunities.

  • Game film and training footage used to demonstrate development to coaches
  • Targeted skill work aligned with each player's recruiting position
  • Stat tracking and performance documentation for coaches
  • Showcase exposure at national circuits and tournaments

Individual Workouts FAQ

How often do athletes get individual skill sessions?

Skill development work happens throughout the week alongside team practice — in position group sessions, shooting machine programs, and film review. The 24/7 facility access also lets athletes add extra shooting and skill work on their own time outside of scheduled sessions.

What positions does FCP develop most — guards, wings, or bigs?

All positions. Our coaching staff includes specialists with experience coaching at every level. Guard development (ball handling, shot creation, pick-and-roll reads) is a strength of FCP's staff given NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson's background as an elite point guard. Big man development, wing positioning, and transitional positionless basketball are also well-covered.

Can an athlete specifically request to work on a certain skill?

Absolutely. The individual development plan is built around each athlete's stated goals as well as coach-identified needs. If a player knows they need to improve their pull-up jumper or their left-hand finishing, that becomes a focus area. Coaches balance player input with what film and performance data show.

Are individual sessions in addition to team practice?

Yes. Skill development work is separate from team practice. The weekly schedule includes dedicated blocks for position coaching, shooting machine programs, film review, and strength training — all in addition to team practice and competitive games.
