About Southern Arkansas University Tech Basketball

Southern Arkansas University Tech offers junior college basketball at the NJCAA level, where playing time and development are real, not theoretical. Head coach Martin B. Levinson runs a program that values consistency and honest feedback over hype. This is a place where you'll get meaningful minutes if you're willing to work, and where coaching staff prioritize your growth as both a player and student. The Arkansas Community Colleges conference provides competitive basketball with a clear pathway: perform well here, and four-year programs will notice. You won't find elaborate facilities or national tournament guarantees, but you will find a coach who invests in player development and expects accountability. The program suits guards and forwards ready to prove they belong at the next level, players who understand that junior college is a stepping stone, not a destination. Academics are manageable, and the cost of attendance fits most family budgets. The schedule includes solid regional competition, giving you visibility with college coaches scouting the NJCAA level. If you're looking for a straightforward environment where effort translates to opportunity—not a program built on marketing—Southern Arkansas Tech deserves consideration. Players who arrive at college campus- ready—technically polished and physically prepared—get noticed faster. Florida Coastal Prep's post- graduate program in Fort Walton Beach, FL is built to close that gap. Learn more at floridacoastalprep.com or visit /apply/ to start the conversation.

Getting recruited at this level requires more than raw talent — coaches need to see your film at the right moment, your eligibility paperwork must be in order, and your tournament exposure has to match the standard the program is recruiting to.

How JUCO Basketball Recruiting Works

Junior college coaches recruit differently than NCAA Division I staffs. Walk-on tryouts are common, signing windows extend later into the spring, and roster turnover is higher — meaning open spots exist year-round. Most NJCAA programs recruit locally first, but players who demonstrate film improvement and consistent development get evaluated regardless of geography.

NJCAA eligibility runs through the Eligibility Center but uses a separate certification process from the NCAA. There is no sliding scale — you need a high school diploma or GED, and 48 semester hours of transfer credit satisfies most transfer requirements to four-year programs. Academic eligibility requirements are generally more flexible than NCAA standards.

If you are building toward a four-year transfer, treat your JUCO year as a proving ground, not a fallback. Coaches at D1, D2, and NAIA programs actively watch JUCO film. Players who earn significant minutes in competitive NJCAA regions get evaluated.
