Missouri has one of the most active NAIA basketball landscapes in the country. Programs compete primarily within the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), which is composed predominantly of Missouri and Kansas institutions. Missouri HAAC members include Baker University (Kansas), Central Methodist University, Culver-Stockton College, Evangel University, Graceland University, Hannibal-LaGrange University, Kansas City University, MidAmerica Nazarene University (Kansas), Missouri Valley College, and William Jewell College, among others. The HAAC is one of the most competitive NAIA conferences in the country and regularly produces tournament-caliber programs.

NAIA programs can award up to 11 equivalent scholarships in men’s basketball, divided across rosters as coaching staffs determine.
