Post-Graduate Basketball Program in Florida

Florida Coastal Prep's post-graduate basketball program is one of the most established PG programs in the Southeast — operating since 2019 on Florida's Emerald Coast in Fort Walton Beach. A post-grad year is an additional year of full-time basketball development and academics taken after high school graduation, before enrolling at a four-year college. It does not use NCAA eligibility.

FCP's post-grad program is built for players who graduated high school without the college offer they wanted, or who need one more year of physical development, academic improvement, or concentrated recruiting exposure. The program combines daily skill training under former NBA and D1 coaches, a national competition schedule in the SEHAL and PHSBA circuits, and a full accredited academic program through Colorado Christian University.

Players from 43 states and 22 countries have trained at FCP since 2019. Alumni have earned college offers at every level — D1 conferences including the SEC, Big East, Big Sky, and Ohio Valley, as well as D2, NAIA, and JUCO programs. FCP is endorsed by ESPN's Director of Recruiting, Paul Biancardi, who called FCP "first class treatment of players."

Post-grad basketball programs in Florida benefit from year-round training weather, access to top recruiting circuits, and proximity to dozens of college programs across the SEC, AAC, ASUN, Sun Belt, and CUSA conferences. FCP's location on the Emerald Coast provides a focused, distraction-free environment with supervised housing, structured daily routines, and beach conditioning as part of the program.

Post-Grad Basketball FAQ

What is a post-grad year in basketball?

A post-grad year is an additional year of academic and athletic development after high school graduation. Rather than heading directly to college, student-athletes enroll at a prep academy where they train full-time, compete in a national schedule, and strengthen their academic profile — all with the goal of earning a college roster spot and maximizing scholarship opportunities.

Does a post-grad year hurt NCAA eligibility?

No. A post-grad year at a prep academy does not count against your five-year eligibility window, as long as you do not enroll at a four-year institution or accept college financial aid during that year. You enter college with the same four years of eligibility you would have had otherwise. Always verify your specific situation with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Who is a post-grad year right for?

Players who graduated without an offer that excites them. Players who are physically still developing and need another year to catch up. Players whose grades or test scores don't yet meet NCAA or NAIA eligibility. Players who had a significant senior-year injury and missed exposure time. And players who have offers but want to aim higher with better film and a stronger profile.

How old are post-grad basketball players?

Most are 18 or 19 during their post-grad year. This is normal and accepted by college coaches — a 19-year-old freshman is common, especially at D2, NAIA, and JUCO programs. College coaches actively recruit from post-grad programs and understand the pathway.

What does FCP's post-grad program include?

Daily skill development and film study with NBA veteran Kenny Anderson, Westside Barbell strength and conditioning (5 sessions/week), a national schedule in the SEHAL and PHSBA circuits, accredited college coursework through Colorado Christian University, supervised team housing on the Emerald Coast, individual recruiting plans, professional highlight film, and direct connections to college coaching staffs at every level.

How much does FCP's post-grad program cost?

Visit our tuition page for a full breakdown of costs and what's included. FCP offers a comprehensive program — coaching, housing, academics, strength training, and recruiting support — at a fraction of the cost of programs like IMG Academy ($80K–$90K). Contact us to discuss options.
