Spartan Training Center FAQ

Is the Spartan Training Center open to outside players?

The facility is primarily dedicated to enrolled FCP athletes who train and live on campus. However, we do open the Spartan Training Center during our summer basketball camps. If you're interested in attending FCP's full-year program, start your application here.

What does a typical training day look like at FCP?

Athletes follow a structured daily schedule that typically includes: morning strength and conditioning (5 days/week), academic coursework, individual skill development sessions with position coaches, team practice, and film review. Evening hours are open for additional court time, shooting machine work, or recovery. The 24/7 facility access lets athletes train beyond the scheduled blocks.

What is the Westside Barbell conjugate method?

The conjugate method is a periodized strength system developed by Westside Barbell — the same training philosophy used by elite athletes across the NFL, NBA, and Olympic sports. Rather than cycling through linear phases, it simultaneously develops maximal strength and explosive power through max-effort and dynamic-effort training days. For basketball athletes, this means faster first-step speed, higher vertical jumps, and greater on-court athleticism. Learn more about our strength program →

How many hours per day do FCP athletes train?

Athletes typically log 4–6 structured training hours per day, split between strength and conditioning, individual skill work, and team practice. Beyond the scheduled sessions, athletes use the 24/7 facility for additional shooting, film review, and recovery. The volume is designed to match what college programs expect — so players arrive ready on Day 1.

What strength and conditioning equipment is available?

The performance zone inside the Spartan Training Center includes free weights, barbells, power racks, and sport-specific equipment for our strength program. The turf training zone supports agility ladders, cone drills, and speed work. On select days, athletes also take training outside to Fort Walton Beach for sand conditioning and endurance work.

Can parents visit or tour the facility?

Absolutely — we encourage families to visit in person. You can schedule a tour of the Spartan Training Center, sit in on a training session, and meet our coaching staff. Contact us to book a visit →

Do athletes train year-round or only during the season?

FCP is a full academic-year program with year-round training infrastructure. Our enrolled athletes train from fall through spring. In the summer, we transition to camp programming and open enrollment for summer athletes. There's no true "off season" at FCP — the facility is always open and coaches are always available.

What makes training at FCP different from a standard high school or club program?

Three things most programs can't offer: (1) A dedicated 14,000 sq ft facility built specifically for basketball — not a shared gym or recreation center. (2) Professional-level coaching, including NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson and a staff with 100+ years of combined experience. (3) Individual accountability — every athlete has a recruiting plan, gets personalized coaching, and reviews their own film. That combination produces college commits from 43 states and 22 countries.
