West Florida Invitational Champions

After finishing as West Florida Invitational Championship runner-ups in 2020, the Spartans were determined to win the championship in 2021. The road to victory was not an easy one and in the championship game, FCP went into overtime to finish the game as champions. There were many scouts and coaches in attendance to see all of the teams play, and we are excited to return and defend our championship next season.

First round: FCP 108 - CAI 61

In the first round of the West Florida Invitational, the Spartans outlasted Clearwater Academy International by the score of 108 – 61. The Spartans shared the scoring load and pulled away in the second half. Despite a slow start to the game, the Spartans defense created enough turnovers to force transition which led to easy baskets throughout the second half.

Second round: fcp 87 - oakleaf 62

In the second round, FCP faced off against another well coached and very aggressive Oakleaf Academy team out of Jacksonville, FL. Oakleaf started the game with a solid run and played a tremendous defensive game for both halves. In the end, the Spartans combination of shooting and defensive rebounding led to the victory. This was a game that was much closer than the final score.

Championship game: fcp 88 - fsa 83 OT

FCP faced one of the most athletic and skilled teams in the tournament in the championship round. One of the best games of the year, the Spartans managed to hold on to a 5 point lead to secure the win in OT. Brandon Maclin (Odessa JC) led the charge in the championship game with stellar defense on the opponent’s best player. A back and forth battle the entire game, FCP held on with timely free throw shooting and rebounding to secure the championship victory.
