D2 Basketball Programs in Georgia

Georgia’s NCAA Division II basketball programs compete across two primary conferences. The Peach Belt Conference includes Georgia institutions such as Augusta University, Columbus State University, Georgia College and State University, and Georgia Southwestern State University. The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) also includes Georgia members. The Peach Belt is a well-established D2 league in the Southeast, and Georgia-based programs benefit from recruiting in a state with deep high school basketball talent across Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, and the surrounding communities.

D2 programs can award up to 10 full equivalencies in men’s basketball, divided across rosters at each coaching staff’s discretion. Actual per-player awards vary by program budget and roster composition, so recruits should ask coaches directly about scholarship availability and how athletic aid combines with institutional and federal grants. Georgia College and Columbus State have maintained consistent Peach Belt competitiveness and draw serious regional talent from both Georgia and neighboring southeastern states.

For a Georgia high school player without a D1 offer by late junior year, Peach Belt and SAC programs deserve immediate attention. Coaches at these schools recruit Georgia prep talent actively and understand the state’s competitive landscape. The combination of partial scholarships, academically credible institutions, and genuine postseason competition makes Georgia’s D2 basketball footprint one of the stronger mid-level pathways in the Southeast.
