If you're a high school basketball player looking for the best next step toward a college offer, Florida Coastal Prep is the most direct route. Located in Fort Walton Beach on the Florida Panhandle, FCP combines elite D1-trained coaching, accredited academics, and a full-cycle college recruiting platform in one of the most player-friendly climates in the country.
Players come to FCP from across the United States — and the world — to train at a prep school built specifically around one outcome: earning a college basketball scholarship.
What Makes a Great Basketball Prep School?
Not all prep schools are the same. The best basketball prep programs share four non-negotiable qualities — and FCP is built around all of them:
Elite Coaching Staff
Coaches with D1 playing and coaching experience who understand exactly what college programs look for in a recruit.
Professional Film Production
High-quality recruiting film that gets watched. Not phone video — professionally shot, edited highlight reels and game film sent directly to coaches.
Accredited Academics
NCAA-approved core courses taught by qualified instructors. Your GPA and transcript must hold up under Eligibility Center review — FCP's academic program is built to that standard.
Real Recruiting Exposure
Access to the events, showcases, and coach networks where offers are actually made. Not local tournaments — national platforms where D1 staff are evaluating.
FCP vs. Standard High School Programs
| Factor | Typical High School | FCP Prep Program |
|---|---|---|
| Coaching level | Volunteer / JV-level coaches | D1-trained staff, full-time |
| Practice hours | 2–3 hrs/day in-season only | 3–5 hrs/day year-round |
| Recruiting outreach | Player/family handled alone | FCP manages all coach contact |
| Film production | Phone video, if any | Professional highlight & game film |
| Exposure events | Limited to local/regional | National showcases, D1 evaluation periods |
| NCAA eligibility guidance | School counselor, minimal | Dedicated eligibility tracking |
| Schedule | October–March | 12-month development calendar |
Who Thrives at FCP?
FCP serves two primary types of players:
Post-Graduate Players (PG Year)
Players who have completed high school but have not yet earned the offer they're seeking — or need an additional year to develop physically, academically, or athletically before committing to a college program. A post-graduate year at FCP gives you a full additional recruiting cycle, better film, and continued physical development during one of the most critical growth years for basketball players (ages 18–20).
PG year is not a fallback. Some of the most successful D1 players in history spent a post-graduate year at prep schools before college. It's a strategic choice, not a consolation prize — and it's become increasingly common as the recruiting timeline has shifted earlier and college rosters have become more competitive.
High School Players (Grades 9–12)
FCP also enrolls high school players who want access to elite-level training and recruiting support during their high school years. These players compete academically and athletically at FCP while building their college profiles years ahead of most of their peers.
Location: Fort Walton Beach, Florida
FCP is located in Fort Walton Beach on the Emerald Coast — one of the most beautiful and livable communities in the American South. Players benefit from:
- Year-round outdoor training: Florida's Gulf Coast climate means no winter stoppages. Players train 12 months a year in optimal conditions.
- Safe, community-oriented environment: Fort Walton Beach is a close-knit military and family community, ideal for student-athletes focused on their development.
- Access to travel: Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and Pensacola International Airport provide direct routes to recruiting events, showcases, and campus visits across the country.
- Cost of living: Compared to major metro prep schools, FCP offers a more affordable total cost while maintaining the same caliber of coaching and exposure.
The Recruiting Outcome FCP Targets
Every player at FCP is working toward one of three outcomes: a D1 scholarship offer, a D2 scholarship offer, or a well-funded NAIA or JUCO placement that continues their development toward a four-year scholarship. FCP's staff has relationships with programs at all levels and manages active outreach on every player's behalf.
Players do not leave their recruiting to chance. FCP builds your profile, pitches your film, tracks responses, and advises on every offer you receive.
