Safe and On the Road: FCP's Storm Week

Everyone is safe. That’s the first thing I want every FCP family, fan, and recruit to hear.

When Hurricane Isaias set its sights on the northern Gulf Coast this week, we made a simple call: we were not going to ride it out in Fort Walton Beach. We packed up, hit the road together, and treated it like any other road trip. Our guys stayed together, supervised, and in the gym. We looked out for one another and kept our routine as steady as we could.

Practice in Tallahassee at Equal Shot

On Friday, our high school and post-grad groups got real court time in Tallahassee, back to back, thanks to our friends at Equal Shot. They opened their doors for us on short notice, and we’re grateful. A displaced week could easily have turned into a lost week. Instead, our guys got two full sessions of work in.

I’m proud of how these young men handled it. New city, a change of plans every few hours, and they still showed up ready to compete. That’s the kind of maturity college coaches want to see.

Two Teams at the All-American Jamboree in Orlando

While one group was working in Tallahassee, two of our teams, one post-grad and one high school, made the trip to the All-American Jamboree in Orlando this weekend. Both teams were scheduled to tip off Saturday night: post-grad against Gillion Basketball Academy and high school against Prestige Worldwide.

Sunday’s slate (Eastern time; game times can change):

• 9:00 a.m.: Post-grad vs. Montreal Prep
• 10:05 a.m.: High school vs. DME Blue
• 11:10 a.m.: Post-grad vs. Toronto Terror
• 12:15 p.m.: High school vs. Hills Academy

Can’t make it to Orlando? Watch live on BallerTV.

Next Up: Mississippi JUCO/Post Grad Jamboree

Next weekend, October 17-18, the rest of our teams head to Jackson, Mississippi for the 4th Annual Mississippi JUCO/Post Grad Jamboree, while the groups that played in Orlando get a break from games. College coaches from every level (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO) will be in the building.

Preseason games like these are how we fine-tune and evaluate before the real schedule starts. Every possession is film, and every game is a chance to get better. Those games will stream live on BallerTV too. Full season schedules are coming soon, so keep an eye on our post-grad schedule and high school schedule pages.

The plan is to have our Tallahassee group back home in Fort Walton Beach on Saturday, Oct. 10, and back inside the Spartan Training Center right after. Our Orlando teams will join them once the Jamboree wraps up. Please keep everyone in the storm’s path in your prayers.
