A basketball option for families stationed on the Emerald Coast.
Florida Coastal Prep is located in Fort Walton Beach, close to Eglin AFB, Hurlburt Field, Duke Field, 7th Special Forces Group, and the broader Emerald Coast military community. If your family is stationed here and your athlete needs a serious basketball environment, FCP may be worth a conversation.
Why It Can Make Sense
Close enough to be practical. Families stationed around Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Navarre, Crestview, Eglin, or Hurlburt may be able to use FCP without leaving the area or sending a player across the country.
More structure than casual basketball. FCP is for players who want consistent coaching, a serious training environment, and a college-track basketball pathway. It is not a drop-in rec league.
Local or residential options. Some athletes may be able to participate as local day students. Others may need the full residential program. The right fit depends on age, grade, academic needs, basketball level, and family logistics.
Clear next step. Tell us your situation and we will point you toward the right lane: high school, post-grad, housing, youth training, camps, or another option if FCP is not the best fit.
Prep Basketball and Youth Basketball Are Separate
Florida Coastal Prep. FCP is for serious high school and post-grad basketball players pursuing college placement. Start with the high school program, post-grad program, housing, and tuition pages.
FCP Sports. Younger players looking for camps, training, or league play should start with fcpsports.org. That is the youth basketball side, including camps, training, and competition.

Start with FCP if...
- Your athlete is serious about basketball development.
- You are stationed close enough for a day-student conversation.
- Your player needs a residential program with structure.
- You want a college-track basketball environment, not just recreational play.
Start with FCP Sports if...
- Your child is younger and wants camps, training, or league play.
- You want a lower-commitment local basketball option.
- Your athlete is not yet ready for a prep basketball schedule.
- You are looking for seasonal youth basketball activity.
Military Family FAQ
Are you a military school?
No. Florida Coastal Prep is a basketball academy, not a military academy. Athletes follow a structured basketball and academic schedule, but there are no military formations, cadet ranks, or military-school requirements.
Do military families use FCP?
Military families are welcome at FCP, just like local, national, and international families. The main advantage is location: if you are stationed nearby and your athlete is serious about basketball, you may have a strong option close to home.
Can a local military family use FCP without housing?
Possibly. If your athlete is local to the Emerald Coast and is a fit for the high school program, we can discuss a day-student option. Transportation, school schedule, basketball level, and program fit all matter.
Can housing help if family logistics are complicated?
For the right high school or post-grad athlete, yes. FCP has a residential housing program. Housing is not a military-specific service, but it can be useful when a family needs a stable basketball and academic environment for a serious player.
What if my child is younger and just wants training or camps?
Use FCP Sports. That is the youth side for camps, training, leagues, and local basketball activity.
