About UMBC Retrievers Basketball

UMBC basketball, under head coach Jim Ferry, competes in the America East Conference and offers student-athletes a compelling combination of competitive basketball and academic excellence. Located in Baltimore, the program provides access to a rigorous academic environment at an R1 research institution where players can pursue meaningful degrees while developing their skills against quality conference opponents. The America East presents a balanced competitive level that rewards strong play while remaining achievable for accomplished high school prospects. Ferry has established a program culture emphasizing development, discipline, and accountability. Retrievers basketball attracts players seeking to compete at the collegiate level without sacrificing educational opportunities. Prospective recruits should reach out to the coaching staff to learn how UMBC can provide a pathway to play meaningful minutes while earning a degree from a respected university in a vibrant mid-Atlantic region.

Getting recruited at this level requires more than raw talent — coaches need to see your film at the right moment, your eligibility paperwork must be in order, and your tournament exposure has to match the standard the program is recruiting to.
