About Thomas University Basketball

Timely Arrival. Physical Readiness. Basketball Intelligence. Thomas University demands all three from day one. Coach Colin Cotter's program in the Southern States Athletic Conference doesn't develop players who aren't prepared to compete immediately. You need to show up sharpened—fundamentals locked, body conditioned, mind engaged. Thomasville offers a direct lane: NAIA basketball at a level where growth happens fast and playing time gets earned, not promised. Cotter values guards who can initiate offense and forwards who finish around the rim with purpose. Ball movement matters here. Defense effort matters more. You'll find teammates who respect the grind because they're grinding too. This isn't a redshirt program. It's not built on potential. It's built on what you bring when you step on campus. Thomas University rewards players who arrive campus- ready—technically sound and physically mature enough to contribute. That's the expectation. That's also the opportunity. Your summer matters. Your conditioning matters. Your film matters. The next step waits for nobody. Players who arrive at college campus-ready—technically polished and physically prepared—get noticed faster. Florida Coastal Prep's post-graduate program in Fort Walton Beach, FL is built to close that gap. Learn more at floridacoastalprep.com or visit /apply/ to start the conversation.

What Recruits Should Know About NAIA Basketball

The Southern States Athletic Conference operates within the NAIA, where scholarship opportunities exist but recruiting timelines and standards differ from NCAA programs. NAIA coaches recruit primarily through direct outreach, exposure events, and coach-to-coach referrals. Academic requirements are governed by the NAIA Eligibility Center — a separate process from the NCAA.

Thomas University and its Southern States Athletic Conference peers offer full and partial scholarships to players who fit their system. Smaller rosters mean more playing time for the right player, and NAIA programs regularly produce players who transfer up to D2 and D1. Getting evaluated starts with sending updated film and a clear academic transcript directly to the coaching staff.

Strength and Conditioning for the NAIA Level

Body development is one of the most overlooked factors in college recruiting. NAIA coaches won't offer a player whose physical profile can't hold up to a 30-game college season. FCP's post-graduate program includes a dedicated strength and conditioning track that prepares players for the physical demands of college basketball — and shows up on film in ways that matter to coaches at programs like Thomas University.

Our Spartan Training Center gives players access to professional-grade facilities and programming designed specifically for basketball performance at the college level. Apply to FCP and start building the physical foundation Thomas University's coaches want to see.

Whether you're a current high school player exploring options through our high school program or a graduate looking for a post-grad year, FCP provides the coaching, competition, and college placement support to help you reach programs like Thomas University.

FCP Has Helped Players Reach Every Level, Including NAIA

Our track record of placing players at NAIA programs is built one athlete at a time. FCP alumni compete across the country at programs with the same standards as Thomas University. Your path starts with applying and committing to the process.
