Vando Becheli

Everywhere Vando Becheli has coached, his teams have won. Eight seasons at Utah State University Eastern: over 120 wins, a Region XVIII championship, and a third-place national finish at the 2009-10 NJCAA tournament. Then Lighthouse Christian College, where his teams won 20 or more games every single season. That kind of consistency isn’t luck — it’s a program builder doing the same things right, year after year, no matter the roster.

A Brazilian native with 25 years of professional playing and coaching experience, Becheli built his coaching foundation in Brazil’s top professional league, where his player development work contributed to NBA placements, and he assisted with the 2016 Rio Olympics basketball program. He has coached at the highest levels on multiple continents, and made the jump from Brazilian basketball to the American game himself.

At FCP, Becheli runs the post-graduate program as National Post Grad Director and Assistant Athletic Director. For international families especially, he is often the bridge: his recruiting network spans South America, Europe, and Asia, and he knows firsthand what it takes for a player to cross an ocean and succeed in American basketball.
