About Doane University Basketball

At Doane University, basketball isn't just about wins and losses—it's about belonging to a community that invests in who you become off the court. Head Coach Ian McKeithen builds programs around genuine relationships, where players feel known and valued as individuals. In the Great Plains Athletic Conference, the Tigers compete with the kind of toughness and cohesion that comes from coaches who genuinely care about their athletes' development as students and people. Doane basketball means smaller rosters where your role matters immediately. Coaches have the bandwidth to know your story, understand your goals, and mentor you through the transition to college life. The campus culture emphasizes accountability paired with support—teammates push each other harder because they're invested in each other's success. You'll find serious competition balanced with a real sense of belonging. If you value playing in a program where your coach knows your name, your struggles, and your dreams, where your teammates become brothers, and where development happens in a tight-knit environment, Doane offers something larger programs can't replicate. This is basketball built on connection. Players who arrive at college campus-ready—technically polished and physically prepared—get noticed faster. Florida Coastal Prep's post-graduate program in Fort Walton Beach, FL is built to close that gap. Learn more at floridacoastalprep.com or visit /apply/ to start the conversation.

What Recruits Should Know About NAIA Basketball

The Great Plains Athletic Conference operates within the NAIA, where scholarship opportunities exist but recruiting timelines and standards differ from NCAA programs. NAIA coaches recruit primarily through direct outreach, exposure events, and coach-to-coach referrals. Academic requirements are governed by the NAIA Eligibility Center — a separate process from the NCAA.

Doane University and its Great Plains Athletic Conference peers offer full and partial scholarships to players who fit their system. Smaller rosters mean more playing time for the right player, and NAIA programs regularly produce players who transfer up to D2 and D1. Getting evaluated starts with sending updated film and a clear academic transcript directly to the coaching staff.

Skill Development That Meets NAIA Standards

Talent alone doesn't get you to Doane University — you need to demonstrate skills within a system that translates directly to the NAIA game. FCP's post-graduate program is built around skill development that mirrors college-level demands: off-ball movement, defensive positioning, late-game decision making, and the conditioning to play 30+ minutes at pace.

Players who graduate from FCP arrive at NAIA programs ready to compete immediately, not just practice. Apply to FCP or explore our Spartan Training program to see the development model we use.

Whether you're a current high school player exploring options through our high school program or a graduate looking for a post-grad year, FCP provides the coaching, competition, and college placement support to help you reach programs like Doane University.
